The Arbory Trust Woodland Burial Ground, Barton, Cambridge

The Arbory Trust (a Church of England registered charity) has no geographical or theological boundaries governing those who may be buried at the Trust - people from all races and religions, near or far, are all welcome. The Trust’s first woodland burial ground is situated at Barton, near Cambridge. Covering almost 40 acres (19 acres currently in use), it is planted with trees indigenous to the area. Burials take place in biodegradable coffins or caskets, in glades surrounded by trees. Trees are not planted with each burial, and no permanent markers are placed. Ultimately graves become part of the meadow area of the glades.

The land at Barton is consecrated, giving as great a guarantee of perpetuity as it is possible to offer.
