Clayton Wood Natural Burial Ground, Hassocks, West Sussex

Set in 15 acres of countryside you can be part of a new English wood that will be protected from development, with the South Downs National Park.

Opened in 2008 below the Jack and Jill Windmills, our beautiful site has various dedicated areas for full natural burials and cremated remains, surrounded by native trees for future generations to enjoy.

As part of our commitment to sustainable management, we are working with the Wildlife Trust to develop a long-term conservation plan. Our aim is to create a beautiful natural native woodland that will link up with two other existing woods, creating migration corridors for wildlife.

Funeral Arrangements: In our experience it is always better to go through a funeral profession but it is not a requirement.

All coffins, caskets and urns must be completely biodegradable.
We schedule all burials to ensure that you have all the privacy and time that you require.
Well-behaved dogs on a short lead are very welcome.

Types of Plots Available: Full Burials (Single  / At need or pre need)
Interment of Cremated Remains
Scattering of Cremated Remains

Memorials: Solid Re-Cycled English Oak Memorial Plaques.
Graves for full natural burial or cremated remains can be marked with a single wooden plaque. These will biodegrade naturally over time but can be replaced if required. The plaques are available to order in two different sizes.

Please note memorials must be approved and purchased through Clayton Wood. Stone, ceramic or metal markers are not permitted.

On Site Facilities: * The Oak Service Hall is suitable for any faith or belief and is available for both funeral and memorial services. The Oak Service Hall can accommodate up to 60 people.  * Car Park  * WC's - Office Hours Only (Disabled access)

Opening Hours: Visitors are welcome at all times at Clayton Wood with access to the burial ground via the public footpath situated to the right of the entrance gate.

Office Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm Appointments advised.
