Emma Curtis Surbiton based covering Greater London and the South East, happy to travel throughout the UK and abroad

Independent Celebrant and an ordained Shamanic Minister with membership of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants UK and the Shamanic Ministers’ Global Network.

Emma believes in doing everything possible to create the ceremony that you need for your loved one and your family. “I sit down with each family and create a beautiful ceremony that is completely bespoke, all content written especially, taking full account of individual wishes, beliefs and the character of your loved one. There are no set rules for creating a funeral or celebration of life. I will work with you to say goodbye to your loved one in a way that feels absolutely right.”

Emma is happy to be your celebrant, whatever your faith.

Her role as a shamanic minister is to help you navigate the transition between the worlds, between life and death; sometimes between faiths; to allow you to be who you are, whatever your belief of faith, or if you have no faith, or are uncertain. Shamanism is non-denominational and trans-denominational.

Her personal studies have focussed on shamanic, spiritual ritual and the ceremonies of indigenous cultures, and ceremony in modern community. Emma believes that all things are possible and nothing definitively impossible, so no one person’s belief is more valid than another. Her own spiritual practice makes her a great choice as a celebrant for anyone with a belief in spirit, and for those feeling that there is perhaps life in the hereafter, that our spirit does go on, but not aligned with any global belief system.

Emma is also an experienced facilitator, including working with, and a holding safe space, for people suffering from addiction, mental illness, trauma and PTSD. She is also a professional opera singer and a skilled creative writer.

Area covered: Mostly London and Surrey. However, I am happy to go wherever I am needed, UK or abroad. I’m British and my mother tongue is, therefore, English. I also speak German, French and Italian.

My fee is variable depending upon the service required and the distance to travel. Talk to me, tell me what you need. As a guide: my basic fee for a simple, bespoke Natural Burial ceremony within 30 mins drive of Surbiton is £250 (April 2015).
