Philip Scott Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and Overseas

Grief is the price we pay for love. I believe that, when we lose somebody dear, it is important that we are able to express our feelings in ways which best suit us and reflect the person. So we need to be able to make choices, in keeping with our values and beliefs. Increasingly, people are choosing to celebrate the lives of their loved ones in ways which are non-religious.

I was born and educated in Africa and have lived in England since 1979 and in Reading since 1987. I have been a Humanist since 1999 and, since then, I have trained to preside at funerals, namings, weddings and civil partnerships and I am accredited by the British Humanist Association.

I regard it as an honour, a responsibility and a privilege for me to collaborate and work with any of you who might now be faced with the difficulties associated with knowing how to do the right thing and to give special meaning to the funeral ceremony. I provide support in the areas designated by postcodes GU, HP, KT, OX, RG, SL, SO, and SP, in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and also Overseas.

I am quite happy to visit you at your home or have you at mine and, if it turns out to be more convenient for us to meet somewhere else, I am glad to do that, too. The important thing is to get together so that we can have a chat about what you want and how you want it so that I can try to provide it for you. Then we can also agree what the next steps are.

My fee for presiding at a funeral ceremony is £170.00 which is inclusive of all travel costs, except those associated with travelling outside the counties identified.
