As a funeral celebrant, I support you in creating a ceremony for your family member or friend that really does bring them to life through words and music.  Each ceremony is a unique reflection of an individual’s personality, values, and life stories. 

I work compassionately and collaboratively with all my clients.  We will take time talking at your pace about the person who has died or is near to the end of their life.  I can write the whole script including the eulogy/tribute, or your and other family/friends can write their own contributions.   You will see the script in advance of the ceremony to approve the content and make any changes.

Some people might want to call the ceremony a funeral, and others a celebration of life.  Don’t be put off by terminology.  The ceremony can be reflective and tranquil or have an up-beat party atmosphere, and still be called a celebration of life. 

As an independent civil celebrant, I can incorporate religious or spiritual elements (readings, music) or create a completely humanist style (non-religious) ceremony.  Some people like prayers, others might like to plant a tree.  I will take you gently through the options. 

You may choose to have a ceremony at a natural burial site or in another location (pub, gallery, sports stadium, village hall, your home).  Some people choose to hold the ceremony separately to, or after, the burial or cremation of the deceased.  I will ensure the ceremony is created in an appropriate way for the location of your choice. 

I hold a level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy in the UK and have completed the Coffin Club Plus training.  I am fully insured too.  Formerly, I was an academic researcher and lecturer, and I am also a professional writer alongside my celebrancy work. 

My sustainability commitment is to travel by public transport, bicycle, and/or by foot, where possible. 

I am based on the east side of Bristol, and offer ceremonies across the Bristol-Bath area, and in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire areas on request.  Additional costs for travel may be added outside of the Bristol-Bath area.
