Photos showing the arrival of 300 boxes of the Fifth Edition of The Natural Death Handbook at the charity's headquarters in May 2012. Additional images were taken at 'Death Fest' at the Southbank Centre 27-29th January 2012, where we spoke to hundreds of people and with their help created a bejewelled pink coffin.

Nothumbrian Woodland Burials, Nr. Morpeth, Northumberland

The ANBG was set up by the Natural Death Centre within the early days of the charity with the intention of helping fledging operators to  deal with the authorities in establishing them, and to clarify the philosophy and the practicalities of these new forms of burial ground.  It is dedicated to the development of the quantity and quality of natural burial ground provision across the UK. It's members are bound by a code of conduct aimed at raising both professional and environmental standards. All member sites are required to issue a  standard feedback form and these are returned to the ANBG headquarters which enables us to accurately monitor the quality of service and support provided. It also allows the families using these sites to present any complaints or issues, as well as praise or thanks they may have through the formal and professional framework of the ANBG.

If a site is a non member, then we do not have the same consistent level of feedback, and so we are not in such a good position to comment on their standards.

Whether you are considering a member or non member site for your  burial, or the burial of someone you love, we would strongly advise you to make contact with the burial operator, and to visit the site  before making a decision.  Nothing compares with seeing the place for yourself.

If you have feedback on this site please complete our Feedback form
