Longholt Wood, Nocton, Lincolnshire

Longholt wood natural burial ground nestles within woodland in a tranquil and beautiful corner of rural Lincolnshire, on the edge of the historic village of Nocton.

At almost five acres, the wood is separated into two equally sized halves. An ancient woodland component, which will have no burials within it, and will be managed as a wildlife habitat, and a second half of open pasture. The pasture was planted with some 5,500 trees in March 2010 and it this area where natural burials will take place. This young woodland will gradually grow up to comprise a mixed native woodland, which will merge with the existing established woodland component.

Longholt wood is a traditional working woodland. As well as producing traditional woodland products such as timber and firewood, the wood will be used as a base to provide woodland skills training and education. The wood may be visited at any time, and enjoys full public access. There is no office or permanent presence on site, but if you would like to ensure that a member of staff is on hand in order to answer questions when you visit, please contact us using the contact details provided on the contact page, and we will be happy to meet you in the wood.
